Environmental Policy

The University recognises it has a responsibility towards, and should aim to protect and nurture the environment. Our Environmental Policy Statement sets out aims and objectives for safeguarding the environment.

Carbon Management

The University Carbon Management Plan details projects aimed at reducing emissions until 2020. There are separate college and corporate services plans to help achieve the targets.

Emissions figures are updated on an annual basis.

General Environmental Advice

Trevor Shields is the University Sustainability and Environmental Advisor. His role is to support the University's commitment to good environmental practice and sustainability and in particular the implementation of University Environmental Policy.

Advice is available to enable staff, students and visitors to play their part in protecting the environment.

Additionally there are an increasing number of research activities and courses aimed at addressing solutions for environmental issues at a local and global level.
